The Welsh singer Charlotte Church, 24, performed four tracks from her new album Back To Scratch in a bid to plug the disc on the home shopping channel.

While it was evidently an unusual place to see an established pop star trying to flog their album, the down-to-earth singer admitted her 'Nana' was a huge fan of the channel.

Church appeared on the show at 4pm and 9pm yesterday and was also interviewed as well as performing.

When asked about her life following her shock split from Gavin Henson in May, Church said: 'Right now, I’m in a really happy place with my two beautiful children, a new album and a fresh start.'

Church is just the latest in a list of celebrities who have appeared on the channel to sell their products, including Cat Deeley, Kim Kardashian and John Barrowman.

The former child soprano is now dating singer/songwriter Jonathan Powell, who has accompanied her during many of her recent gigs, but stayed away from her QVC performance.

Fans who chose to buy her new album on QVC - before it goes on general release - would also get a signed photo of the singer.

The CD was available from QVC for £9.99, but will be available for £8.99 at HMV next week.

After releasing her previous classical and pop albums on Song BMG, Back To Scratch is out on independent label Dooby Records.

Her only pop album Tissues And Issues reached number five in 2005, but Church insists she isn't bothered if Back To Scratch doesn't hit No.1.

She said: 'It’s all about musical expression - commercial success and sales are very important and always great but they’re not the be all and end all any more.

'I would rather make really great music that I love that’s really heartfelt and means something to people rather than be on the treadmill of music commercial success.'

Chantelle Houghton and Preston left the Big Brother house, they were accused of creating a 'showmance' to make money out of their relationship.

Now heartbroken Chantelle has come forward to admit her feelings towards her ex-husband Preston were entirely genuine, and she thought he was in love with her.

She told Heat magazine: 'When I left the house, all I wanted was closure. But when Preston saw how I was feeling in the house, it opened it up again and gave me hope we could get back together.'

Referring to pictures of the pair meeting up at a restaurant shortly after leaving the reality show, Chantelle said: 'At the restaurant he told me that he was in love with me and he still really fancied me, and I obviously got really upset.

'He was so confusing because he was saying that he really didn’t want to be in the celebrity thing and I was like, “But why did you go back on Big Brother?”

'I’d text and say, “I can’t wait to see you,” and he’d say, “Can’t wait to see you too.” He also sent texts saying he loved me, which I have.'

Asked what they talked about over dinner, Chantelle said: Preston said how he’d had a girl back at his place a couple of nights before.

'I was like, “Right…” and started crying. I was so upset, especially because I thought the fact that he was still with his girlfriend Abby was the biggest thing stopping us.

'So for him to say that he was sleeping with another girl was awful. Then, the next day, he texted me and said, “By the way, I made that up. I wanted to make you jealous. I’m sorry. Oops.” '

Shortly after meeting at the restaurant, Preston put a statement on his official blog insisting there was nothing going on between him and Chantelle.

It read: 'Chantelle is an astonishing girl. She is stunning. She is enchanting. She is entertaining. She is also my ex-wife. It is this final attribute, which makes me feel privileged to call her a friend and nothing more.'

But Chantelle said she was absolutely stunned when she read Preston's statement, adding: '“I sobbed my heart out when I saw Preston’s statement on Twitter, I sobbed my heart out.

'I couldn’t believe that he’d put that on there without telling me. I honestly thought that there was hope for us.

'I texted him, saying, “I’ve just read your blog and I’m absolutely devastated,” and he was like, “Oh no, sorry. Do you want me to take it down?” I was so upset.'

And the relationship drama has been so traumatic for Chantelle that she is worried her eating disorder bulimia might return.

She said: 'Last week, I was with my mum and I just didn’t eat all week. I didn’t want to go near food, because I knew what would happen.

'I was in that frame of mind and I don’t ever want to be like that again. I was totally on edge and I don’t want to go back there or be that unhappy again. So I’m just focusing on keeping positive.'

While Chantelle is having to read about her and Preston's relationship in the papers, the singer has fled to France to visit his mother.

Chantelle added: 'I just wanted him to be there for me. It’s like now that the s**t’s hit the fan, he’s gone off.'
